Resident Aide

Position Summary: Provides quality resident-directed care and services to residents in a home-like environment which recognizes resident’s individuality, promotes their autonomy, protects their rights, respects their dignity, and offers them freedom of choice. Assists with activities of daily living, administers medications, updates and maintains records and documents related to residents, and assists with light housekeeping, meal service and life enrichment activities.
Essential Responsibilities: 
1. Utilize the resident service plan and resident story to provide personalized and appropriate care for each resident. 
2. Assist with personal care, ambulation, transfers, and positioning as needed while maintaining the privacy, comfort and dignity of each resident.
3. Respond promptly to the notification system signaled by the resident. 
4. Administer medications as directed by the physician.
5. Monitor, document and report changes in the resident’s condition to the clinical support team.
6. Monitor, intervene and report unsafe conditions and document incidents and or accidents when they occur.
7. Report any actual or suspected waste, fraud or abuse to the Director and/or designee immediately.
8. Perform light housekeeping duties and assist with serving meals, snacks and beverages.
9. Communicate openly and honestly at all levels and work as a cohesive team to create and maintain an environment in which everyone can thrive.
10. Provide excellent customer service, support and encouragement to residents, families, coworkers and other customers through the Resthaven Way culture.
11. Attend and participate in orientation programs, on-going training and educational classes.
12. Follow established safety precautions, infection control protocols and maintain privacy and confidentiality as required by Resthaven’s Corporate Compliance program.
13. Follow established smoking regulations and report violations.
14. Completes incident reports and related paperwork a necessary.
15. Perform other related duties as assigned and/or requested by the resident.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Basic computer skills.
2. Effective organizational skills.
3. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
4. Ability to remain calm and make prompt and accurate judgments with regard to resident care and emergencies.
5. Ability to collaborate and communicate honestly and effectively as part of the work team.
6. Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
7. Ability to manage time productively.
8. Ability to set priorities, adjust to fluctuating schedules/assignments and multi-task.
Education, Training, Experience:
1. High school diploma or successful completion of GED.
2. Previous related experience or training preferred, especially working with the elderly with memory loss.
Required Licenses, Registration, and/or Certifications: (may be provided as part of the job training)
1. Dietary training for safe food handling.
2. CPR certification.
3. Medication pass training.
4. Dementia training.

1. Practice high standards of ethics, honesty, and accuracy.
2. Ensure resident/customer satisfaction.
3. Flexible schedule with ability to work weekends and holidays.
